GT: Eat, Pray, Love
And since Girls Talk has a new house, mine should have a new one too. LOL Kidding aside, I just thought that this site is more apt for this topic, so there.
Topic for this week is Reel with friends or what movie I will recommend to see with friends.
I would say Hostel, just for kicks and for eye popping er eye covering gruesomeness.. bwahaha.. I would love to see this movie with Niko and Fedhz.. I just knew we’d die in the cinema if ever.. bwahaha
Seriously, I would say any Julia Roberts or Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler movie. It is perfect for some girls night out. It would be nice to watch this and you and girlfriend would say awwwww.. all at the same time. Good thing there’s a new Julia Roberts film on the way.
EAT, PRAY, LOVE
The movie s all about finding the missing piece… and watching it with girlfriends will make this movie more memorable.. as you know men can be an a$$ on cheesy films.
Thrift Shop (Ukay Ukay) Clothes Treatment
Nowadays, more and more people are buying clothes from thrift shop (read: Ukay Ukay). Most people love the fact that they can get a signature items for a very low price. Although some Ukay Ukay stores are now charging more than before, you can still grab a few if you are willing to Ukay/DIG on a pile of dirty clothes (dust infested clothes). Usually store owners put their old stock on sale for as low as 10 Pesos or 3 for 100 Pesos.
So you had the courage to dig those pile.. and found a lot of great items, what now?
You know it’s dirty..other than dust, it is also infected with germs, so you should be put extra precaution when sanitizing it. When I buy clothes on Ukay Ukay stores, the first thing I do is to separate the clothes by its colors. Yes, you bought it cheap but that is not enough reason to ruin the clothes by mixing their colors.
After the clothes are separated, I pour boiling water on it to make sure that all the bacterias that can’t tolerate that temperature will be killed. I repeat this step twice (just to make sure) and also to put off the moth ball smell (the Ukay Ukay trademark smell haha). Rinse after that.
For the white clothes, you will have to soak it in a bleach so as to give back it’s whiteness. For the colored clothes, just soak it in a detergent. Wash it after an hour or two and then rinse it very well. Hang it to dry and then Iron it as the final step.
$6 Dollar Shirts
I was busy cleaning up Noob’s adgitize tool when I accidentally click a site. FYI, NOOB’s adgitize tool is a tool for adgitize users, if you are serious on adgitizing and want to get 100 points in an instant, then this tool is for you. And so back to the site that I accidentally clicked.. found a store that sells T shirts for $6 and if you will buy 10 pieces, you can get it for only $50! Yay!

I Wanna Bag The Bag
I am not a bag person, I am not even a shoes person. I am a mommy, that’s plain and simple. One of the reason why I made this blog. To open my eyes to the world of fashion for the sake of my youngest child, my only girl, Sati. Last year, I have 4 bags but when we were flooded, Ondoy took away most of them. Good thing that the one I liked the most was saved. Now I realized, I need to have more bags, more shoes and more clothes and where to start that? By joining Mommy Umma’s $300 Worth Brand New COACH Satchel Bag Contest. I really hope I can bag the bag..and of course this won’t possible if not for her sponsors, so in advance, thank you guys:
Pickpocket Safe Bag

Pick pocketing is a major major problem here in the country. A lot of people complains of having their bag slashed and contents taken out.. but with this kind of bag, do you think pick pockes will have enough courage?
But if you think, pickpocket will still gget you, why not read on some ways on how to prevent it, text are taken from howstuffworks.com
The best defense against pickpockets is to make it hard to get to your valuables. It’s not a good idea to carry your wallet in your back pocket, because it’s fairly easy for a pickpocket to sneak up behind you. Front pockets are safer, but the best option is a money belt under your clothes. Fanny packs are extremely vulnerable, particularly when the pouch is on your back rather than your front. Backpacks and purses are also attractive to pickpockets. If you need to carry a purse, you should hold it under your arm and cover it with your hand.
Another good defense is to employ some distraction methods of your own. Carry an easily accessible “dummy” wallet in your pocket or purse so pickpockets never seek out your real wallet.
It’s also important not to look like a good target. Pickpockets are drawn to people who look lost, confused or distracted. People who seem sure of themselves and aware of their surroundings are less attractive targets. Remember, most pickpockets are cautious thieves who want to avoid confrontation. Even if they think they could steal something off you, they’ll tend to pass you over if you don’t look like the safest mark in a crowd.
If you must ask me, my best defense is giving the angst look, it as if telling them that I cannot be their victim.
My Mojos
It was year 2000. I was already with the movement then, hitting the road, shouting our discontentment and spending nights planning for the next university lock up. Our topics was mostly about budget cut, tuition fee increase, SONA, Erap and never about shoes or the latest in fashion. We wore tattered pants, sando (or big shirt) and slippers. But there is one slippers in the campus that acts like a trademark, that you’re in.. the mojos*. And it was a bit expensive for me at 400 Pesos. So when when I got my cut from my tuition fee (I know you do that too), the first thing I bought that school year is a pair of Sandugo mojos, in black of course (back then, mojos are only in black with some accents and mine has a sun and moon yellow accents, yellow is my fave color).

Wearing it is so worth it, I can feel how much I belong to UPLB. I can feel how much I need to serve the people. It was my favorite shoes from then on. It was the only shoes I wore from then on. It acted as my tibak (the slang term for activist) suite. And then I had a boyfriend, who shares the same passion as mine, and also the same passion for mojos. He started wearing my mojos (good thing the one I bought is a bit bigger for me) and in a way slowly took me out of my current idealism…not exactly.. from ousting the president, our plans shifted to having our own family. And he still wore my mojos. Ten years later, Mendiola became just the road we passed by when we need to go to Divisoria to buy supplies for our kid’s party. But he still wore my mojos.
Now, with 4 kids and a demanding life, I wish I can still wear mojos, they are the most comfortable shoes ever, but of course it can make my barely there fashion sense to extinction.. I mean.. hello?!? mojos? what am I thinking? So in search for the most comfortable shoes for me, I learned to love flats and slips on and sandals. I haven’t tried a shoes from SOLE SISTER but hearing a lot of good reviews about it, I might.. and not to mention, their pairs are just fashionable and cheap. There is one shoes though that is worth the mention, the one I got from an ukay ukay store. I love it because it is red.. plain and simple.

Oh aside from that, I love it because I can wear anything with it, a dress, shorts, pants.. and it’s super comfy on my feet.
“This post is for Earthlingorgeous.com My Sole Sister Shoe Contest”
*Mojos is actually the manufacturer of the first ever outdoor sandals, that is of course known as mojos. Only now that I have learned about it. It was Joey Cuerdo who made the first ever mojos. He was a member of the UP Mountaineers Club and conceptualized the mojos out of the need for a cheaper outdoor sandals.
